do you think i even need a high performance cooler on the cold side? maybe just using a liquid cooler on the hot side and a regular cooler on the cold side just to circulate air around in the enclosure would do?

I think that would be just fine. A heatsink using convention on the cold side within the terrarium and an AIO on the hot side to absorb the heat moved and reject it quietly to the atmosphere.
